Coming Soon....A Brave New World

World leaders met in D.C. with President Bush on Saturday and agreed to agree on how to handle the economic crisis, but took a rain check on working out just what they're agreeing to until a meeting in late April with President Obama.

While the rules of the global financial system cannot be rewritten in a weekend, some useful things can come out of the meeting, such as commitments on trade and on reforming the International Monetary Fund. What we need to do most of all is to join forces and take immediate action to prevent the financial crisis from getting worse.

While it was easy getting the G20 attendees to agree that something needs to be done, I believe that actually getting a commitment to implement specific actions will be difficult.

Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed.
