This is a Test. This is just a Test!

Well, it didn't take long. Within hours of Barack Obama’s Presidential acceptance speech, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev threw down a gauntlet. And it seems only fitting that it should come from the Russians. After all, the United States and Russia have been each other’s favorite enemies for many years. We got a little distracted by 9/11. While we've been busy with Afghanistan Iraq and Iran, Russia has been rebuilding her strength. She tested it out this summer by trying to overrun Georgia. If Russia had been successful they would have had control of the oil pipelines. It was only when President Bush sent in three American warships under the pretense of delivering humanitarian aid did the bloodbath stop. Come on, we all know you don't use warships to deliver aid. But Russia got the message and pulled back and have been hurting from the sting ever since.

And while the Russian government endorsed the election of Obama, they are now laying down the law. In his State of the Nation address on Wednesday, President Medvedev called U.S. foreign policy "selfish"and ominously announced that Moscow will set up a new missile base on their border with Poland. He has also pledged to electronically jam the U.S. missile shield.

Of course Russia blames all these moves on the United States and claims they are only putting their missiles in strategic areas in case the U.S. continues to build a missile defense system in Poland. In case you aren’t aware, the missile defense system in Poland was put into place after Russia invaded Georgia and then threatened the Ukraine and Poland. If Russia had been successful they would have gotten complete control of the oil and gas supplies into Western Europe. So Western European leaders asked for our help and we gave it.

And finally, in a move that is worthy of the best of the old spy movies, Medvedev said that Obama could stop all of this very easily. All he has to do is bow down before them. ARE THEY ON CRACK?

So now we wait and see how Obama responds. Will he give Russia the upper hand or tell them that Americans bow before no one and force them to back off of taking power over Western Europe, possibly causing yet another war.

I hope Obama has some courage.
